Schools

From preschool to college, quality education is the most important gift a parent can give their child. No matter what style of learning you’re seeking for your loved ones, Douglas County has several quality schools. With numerous daycares and preschools, young children will develop, grow and learn among their peers from the start. From there, you can choose from the public schools nestled into neighborhoods throughout the area to a range of private schools that offer everything from pre-K through high school. Should your child want to continue their education in the area, Umpqua Community College offers a variety of courses and there are three state universities located to the north along the Interstate 5 corridor.

As for extracurricular activities, there is something for all ages and abilities. Douglas County has several sports leagues, including basketball, football and soccer, as well as opportunities to learn how to golf, play tennis and more. If your child prefers dance, music lessons, arts and crafts, swimming classes or community theater, we’ve got all of these too.

The YMCA and Boys & Girls Club offer numerous kids’ activities, including recreational programs, educational classes and summer camps. Additionally, Douglas County has several 4-H clubs organized around a variety of interests such as animals, cooking and gardening. For the more adventurous, there is a skate park, roller skating rink and BMX track.
